    Lauren,

Your idea to create reusable mini lessons done by the students is fantastic. How you hooked the learners by placing QR codes around the room certainly created a buzz around the project. Student engagement was evident in your pictures, and it was powerful that they felt they were the experts teaching the strategies.

    I shared this…[Read more]

    • Hi Megan,

The kids had a lot of fun (and so did I)! I will definitely share the QR codes, I just need to figure out how to do that…

    Joel,

Thanks for your feedback. I wish I had a longer time to explain it all and what I learned from it (both in knowledge and management). As I will teach 3rd grade next year, I am looking for ways to adapt this project to do with students.

  • What were your goals for your lesson/project (Standards)?

I used the ISTE Standards for Administrators to define my goals for the project:

    • Hi Megan,
Amazing project! I think you have applied all of your learning throughout COETAIL into one project: CARP, Zen, Infographics, Copyright, Creating, Connections, PLN, innovation … you name it… your project has it. Well done!
Your video is awesome too, I love the visuals of your cartoon character throughout! You explain the process behind it all so well and your reflection at the end is great. Opps!
It is such a powerful project to connect other like minded educators together to share thoughts and ideas.
Thanks for sharing this with the world.
I have enjoyed learning from you throughout COETAIL and will continue to in the future.
      Cheers, Joel

I too enjoyed learning with you throughout COETAIL. You really pushed my thinking and blew my mind with what your class was doing. I’m sure we will continue to learn from one another on this never-ending learning journey.

        Bests,
        Megan

    • Dear Megan,

What an inspirational project. I’m going to steal this from you like an artist.

I have really enjoyed following you along this COETAIL journey. You share your thoughts and learning in such an accessible way for a learner like me.

I also want to continue to connect with my onsite and online PLN…and I look forward to continuing to learn with you.

  • After our first #GBCreatingInnovators meeting I realized that going a month between meetings would be too long and I was afraid that our momentum might fade. I brainstormed ways to publicize our group and keep up […]

To be honest I started #coetail because of my PLN.  There were people I respected and followed that were former COETAILers who raved about it. I also saw the #coetail popping up on lots of posts, so I t […]

    Paul,

I’ve heard nothing by rave reviews about Seesaw. Another COETAILer that is using Seesaw for her final project is Joy, https://www.coetail.com/joyw/
It’s be great to even further redefine the learning experience by connecting your classes. I’m not sure if Seesaw allows for that but how cool would that be?!

    • Hi Megan,

Yes it is a great app and definitely one of my favorites. You can connect classes but unfortunately I haven’t had the opportunity yet as my school has been focusing on inspection. Thankfully that finished this week so now I can move on and focus more on my class and their use of Seesaw. i will get in touch with joy now to link up with…[Read more]

This is inspiring, I love how it was something so little that sparked into something much bigger. So today, I thank you for giving me an idea to show my gratitude in big ways and small to the people that mean so much to me.

A very thorough plan, I appreciate how you included teaching students how to write a meaningful comment. Have you thought about creating a rubric for writing comments? I know there are a bunch out there (http://www.slideshare.net/EmmaWatts/commenting-on-blogs-rubric-20551539) , but maybe your class can create one together as you teach.

    Suzy,

I’m trying to think of ways to expand the group so we can share our learning and reflections in the spaces between our meeting dates. Do you have any ideas? I want to try a new technology tool and push myself, but don’t know of any that would be a new platform for sharing. Thanks for watching and I can’t wait to discuss the next chapters.

    Tricia,

These questions are very thought provoking. I’m going to share them with my staff and to get people thinking. The next question is, how do you from the “no, but” to the “yes, and”. 🙂

    • Hi Megan,
Inspired by your problem solving on Sunday morning. I enjoyed listening and watching live on Youtube, thank you so much for the link. I am really enjoying the book, lots to reflect on, discuss and apply.
Enjoying being part of this group.
      Thank you

Wow Suzy, the evolution of your PLN is inspiring. What makes it so powerful is how you are building a digital PLN and a face-face PLN in your school. I just tweeted the oops video about redefining failure.

I’ve learned so much from you and can’t wait to continue learning alongside you.

    Cheers,
    Megan

I love this! I am doing a similar final project, but since I am not in the classroom I am doing a global book club with other administrators and educators. I took notes on your hidden challenges (learnings) for my planning. I love how you used your PLN to make connections. If you want to join in on my final project feel free join:…[Read more]

Yes, I skim too. I’m wondering if people will skip over something because of the time issue. You bring up a good point about teaching the art of skimming. I love the skimm too!

  • I’ve noticed a trend on blogs and websites, such as Medium, and I can’t decide if I’m ashamed or amazed by it.  Underneath the title of an article there is a little line that tells you how long it will/should […]

    • Don’t people skim anyway, regardless of the minutes recommended? I love theskimm for that reason… 😉

Facetiousness aside, I am curious, too – you raise the same questions in me. I wonder what my students would say?
