    Hi Joe,

I will keep you posted regarding this. From what I understood from the MAD-Learn presenters, this platform is not that suitable for Grade 1 students but who knows… Apart from this, have you tried any other programming tools with Grade 1? Like Scratch or CodeAcademy? if so, please let me know how it goes. In my school I start Scratch f…[Read more]

  • I have always been interested in programming, especially in using and integrating  programming  into the curriculum of the lower primary school. For this assignment, I decided to start building a community where p […]

    • Hi Alexander,
As a First Grade Teacher I am interested to how the Mad-Learn App trial will go in December. I am interested in finding more opportunities to create content with my students and this seems like a wonderful opportunity. Thanks so much for sharing the resources and setting up the communities. Good luck with it all. Cheers, Joel

      • Hi Joe,

I will keep you posted regarding this. Like Scratch or CodeAcademy? if so, please let me know how it goes. In my school I start Scratch from Year 2 but I did not do anything related to programming in Year 1 that’s why I am interested in your feedback.

        Thanks again!

  • For my Course 5 final project I chose to re-invent the Ancient Egypt unit by integrating even more technology and going even deeper by introducing MinecraftEdu to Year 3 students and creating the Ancient […]

    Hi Jamie,
You inspired me with a story telling idea using Scratch. I have done a few Scratch projects with my Y2-4 students (we created different games, electric circuits, model a BeeBot, mazes, Math racing activities, etc) but I never thought I could use it for story telling. I do not know why but it just never occurred to me. We use Scratch on…[Read more]

    Hi Verena,
It’s a coincidence as I myself applied for MAD a week ago to use it in our school and Larry sent me many links to explore all the options and see how it works. I did not get a testing access yet as we are in the process of examining all the information to decide whether to go with this (I actually did not expect they would provide a…[Read more]

    Hi Anjana,
I totally share your feelings about the SAMR model. It just makes more sense to me and it’s much easier and more convenient to use. I also find the substitution and augmentation stages the easiest, and they happen almost naturally.
also, thanks for sharing the links – very interesting and inspiring.

    Hi Vivian,
You are really an inspiration! I have just finished with your Scratch music piece which you posted on G+: I am not good at making music using Scratch but I followed your script to see how it works. Awesome!
I am researching now all about Lego We-Do to buy for our school. Could you advice which pack your school went with and how it…[Read more]

    • Hi Alex @tabalex

That’s cool you tried the Scratch scripts that I posted on G+! (I reposted the image at the bottom of this blogpost so that the rest of my readers can see it.)

This script is actually a very “advanced” thing to do in Scratch, in terms of music. Scratch is really made to play single notes at a time. After you create song…[Read more]

    Hi Leah,
Thanks a lot for the wonderful book introduction (I just bought the book you recommended) and a detailed Google data exploration review – I followed the links you posted, regarding Google gathering information, to see how much information it has on me. I was astounded means not to say anything. I am a heavy Google and Android user, and I…[Read more]

    Hi Amanda,
First of all, do not worry about having to jump. I am pretty sure you can retire in about 20 years, and only if you want to:-)
I think you did a great job summarising the latest trends in teaching and how those effect the role of teachers. I am an enthusiastic follower of the self-organised learning advocated by Sugata Mitra and I…[Read more]

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for so much for the useful information! I have not thought about unit planning using mind-maps but it looks like a brilliant idea! I should give it a try. Inspired by your post, I started thinking about using mind-maps in explaining multi-step processes of using a particular piece of technology to students in my ICT classes. I…[Read more]
