We’ve shared about COETAIL’s partnership with the University of Kentucky and why you might want to choose this learning journey. Now, let’s explore what it might actually look like for you!

COETAIL is a certificate program designed by, and for, educators. Grounded in the ISTE Standards and following a cohort model, COETAILers become ’empowered professionals’ and ‘learning catalysts’ in an authentic, practical, project-based learning environment.

Jeff Utecht and Kim Cofino founded COETAIL in 2009 with the goal of empowering educators to publically reflect as they transform learning in their classrooms and schools. Almost 10 years later, over 20 online and in-person cohorts have gone through the program. Our community of over 1000 program graduates overwhelmingly found COETAIL beneficial to their careers. 93% of participants surveyed said the COETAIL program had a direct influence on their teaching practice.

Composed of five courses, the 3-semester long program will help you to explore teaching and learning with technology for today’s students. Each course is 6-weeks long, requiring an average of 4-8 hours per week. Not only will you have your fellow COETAIL-ers to support you, you will be guided through the program by an instructor dedicated to your cohort.

“In addition to the course materials, I learned so much from the other people in the program. I feel like I’m part of a network of educators I can turn to for support.” – Online 5 Grad

As educators, we know how important it is to be able to immediately apply your learning in your classroom or school. COETAIL is uniquely designed with this principle at its core. The courses follow a linear pattern and build upon the foundations built in previous courses. You will develop the skills of understanding, evaluating and implementing current trends in curriculum and assessment while publically reflecting on your learning.

Ever feel the desire to get outside the bubble of your classroom or school?

Educators from around the world come together to learn in a COETAIL cohort. Because participants and instructors are spread across the globe, the program is flexible to meet your needs. You will complete weekly assignments while engaging with your cohort on your own schedule.

Your time is valuable. We honor you by creating a schedule that provides time for holidays and vacations. Courses 1 and 3 are six weeks long while Courses 2 and 4 are seven weeks, giving you the flexibility to take a fall and spring break whenever fits your schedule. Course 5 is a full semester so that you can incorporate your final project when it fits best in your curriculum.

“The world has changed so much since my grad school days. Most of what I learned back then is irrelevant now. COETAIL is preparing us for today’s students by exploring and learning how to effectively use tech in today’s classroom.” – Online 8 Grad

COETAIL is for any educator who is interested in learning & growing through a community approach. All educators are welcome – young & ‘old,’ tech-savvy & apprehensive, experienced & new-to-education, classroom teachers & leadership.
